Le Tour de Langkawi Turns 30 This Weekend — Without A Single Stage On Langkawi
Malaysia's longest-running professional stage race marks its 30th edition this weekend, but for a third straight year the route never reaches the island that gave it its name — even as June's launch leaned on Langkawi's own coastal scenery to sell the race.

Le Tour de Langkawi, Malaysia's biggest cycling race and one of Asia's longest-running, starts its 30th edition on Sunday in Shah Alam — and for the third straight year, not a single one of its eight stages touches the island whose name it carries. The 2026 route runs 27 September to 4 October from Shah Alam to Putrajaya along the peninsula's west coast, with hilltop finishes at Gunung Jerai, Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands.

At the race's official launch on 25 June, the stage screen showed Langkawi coastal route scenery as its backdrop — even as the confirmed route never touches the island's shores.
