Langkawi Opens Five-Day Push To Win Over Bespoke-Travel Buyers From 14 Countries
The Langkawi International Tourism Engagement (LiTE) 2026 puts 31 hosted buyers from as far as Algeria and Sweden in front of the island's resorts, mangroves and cable car — the latest sign Langkawi is pitching itself on personalised experience rather than price.
LiTE 2026 opened this week with LADA and Tourism Malaysia putting 31 hosted buyers from 27 companies across 14 markets directly in front of the island's tourism trade — a five-day push built around bespoke, experience-led travel rather than the mass-market pricing Langkawi has leaned on for years.
Addressing the buyers, LADA Deputy Chief Executive Officer Wan Kamarul Faisal Wan Kamardin framed the event as part of a deliberate shift in how Langkawi positions itself internationally, pointing to the island's push toward higher-value, personalised offerings as the throughline connecting LiTE to the resort upgrades and infrastructure investment Langkawi News has tracked over the past year.

The five days are structured around hosted meetings between buyers and Langkawi's tourism operators, threaded through site visits to the island itself — the SkyCab, the Kilim Karst Geoforest mangroves, Island Horses Langkawi, and stops at four of the island's resorts — so buyers are pitching Langkawi to their own markets from direct experience, not a brochure.

Langkawi News was on the ground for the week's proceedings.
